Priyanka Jarkiholi Youngest Tribal Woman To Win In Lok Sabha Elections

Congress nominee and Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s 27years old daughter Priyanka Jarkiholi of has won from Chikkodi, defeating incumbent MP and BJP leader Annasaheb Jolle in 2024 Loksabha elections. She became the youngest tribal woman to win an unreserved seat in Karnataka since independence. With this victory she became the second leader coming from a reserved community who won from an unreserved seat.

 

G7’s $50 Billion Plan To Ukraine

During the G7 summit that Italy held, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced a big $50 billion plan to help Ukraine. Meetings with Group of Seven leaders aimed at increasing pressure on Russia over its war against Ukraine. Interest earned on profits from Russia’s frozen central bank assets would be used as collateral. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hailed a security agreement signed with the US.

 

National Commission For Indian System Of Medicine Celebrates Its 4th Foundation Day

The National Commission for Indian Medical Systems organized a two-day National Conference, ‘PRANA’ Protecting Rights and Novelties in ASUS (Mind to Market for Indian System of Medicines [ISM] Professionals) in Collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education and Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell to mark its fourth foundation. The two days seminar of the National conference involved a significant number of innovations that have the potential to be patented, can be commercialized or could be fit for technology transfer of those patented items.

 

National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) Launches Mobile App ‘NCRB Sankalan Of Criminal Laws’

NCRB has launched a Mobile App “NCRB Sankalan of Criminal Laws” to serve as a comprehensive guide providing complete information about the new criminal laws at one place. The New criminal laws will come into force from the 1st of next month. This App is a compilation of new criminal laws namely Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. It provides an Index linking all Chapters and Sections of the new laws. Sankalan app will be available for download on Google Play Store, Apple Store and its desktop version may be downloaded from official websites of MHA and NCRB.

 

Delhi heatwave

The IMD forecast for 15 June predicts partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorms or lightning accompanied by drizzle at one or two places during the day. The IMD, however said, that despite the rain, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in Delhi and neighbouring states for the next 4-5 days. Aya Nagar in Delhi recorded 46 degree Celsius temperature against 44.8 on Saturday.

BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting

India participated in the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting, which commenced on Monday in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. This marks the first foreign policy assignment for India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic third consecutive term. Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), led the Indian delegation at the meeting. They held a plethora of discussions, including an important one on the enhanced use of local currencies in trade and financial transactions between the BRICS countries. Russian FM Lavrov led the session.

 

Kuwait inferno

Most of the Indian victims killed in the Kuwait inferno. 40 Indians among 49 workers were killed. According to the Kuwaiti authorities, the fire broke out in a building in the southern city of Mangaf, in which 49 foreign workers, including around 40 Indians, were killed, while 50 others were injured.

 

POCSO Case against ex-CM

Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa returned to Bengaluru after a high court stay on his non-bailable arrest warrant in a Pocso case. The octogenarian is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl who had come to him, along with her mother, seeking his help, on February 2. The special court issued the arrest warrant on Thursday on a request from the Criminal Investigation Department inquiring into the case. Yeddyurappa, was summoned by the CID on June 12 but sought time till June 18 for appearance by stating that he was in New Delhi.
